About Sail Rock

Sail Rock is the Gulf of Thailand's premier dive site — a towering granite monolith midway between Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. The chimney, a vertical swim-through from 18m to 6m, is one of the most thrilling experiences in Thai waters. Enormous schools of chevron barracuda spiral around the rock while giant groupers lurk in the shadows. From March to May, whale sharks cruise through the plankton-rich waters, making this a world-class big animal encounter.

Tips

Book a morning trip for calmer seas and better light in the chimney. Descend early to beat the scuba bubbles if freediving.

Experience Required

Comfortable to 20m+ for freediving. Open Water certified for scuba.
