About Junkyard Reef

Junkyard Reef started as a marine conservation project — clean metal structures placed on the sandy seabed to create habitat. Years later, it's developed into a surprisingly productive dive site with moray eels, scorpionfish, and masses of juvenile fish using the structures as shelter. A testament to how quickly the ocean reclaims man-made objects.

Tips

Great for underwater photography. The structures create interesting framing compositions.
