The islands cover 374 hectares including 66 hectares of coral reef. Critically endangered hawksbill turtles and endangered green turtles use the islands for nesting. Blacktip reef sharks are common, and manta rays have been documented. Extremely few divers ever visit — the 77 nautical mile journey from Khanom takes 9-10 hours by sailing vessel.
