About Shark Bay

Shark Bay (Thian Og) is a calm, shallow bay on Koh Tao's southern coast where juvenile blacktip reef sharks use the warm shallows as a nursery. Snorkeling from the beach, you can often spot baby sharks cruising over the sand at just 2–3m depth. Green turtles are also frequent visitors, feeding on the seagrass patches.

Tips

Go early morning or late afternoon for the best shark sightings. Stay quiet and still — splashing scares them away.

Experience Required

None required — snorkeling accessible.
