About Koh Losin
Koh Losin (Losin Pinnacle) is arguably the ultimate Gulf of Thailand dive destination. Located 80 nautical miles offshore from Songkhla, this tiny pinnacle — Thailand's smallest island and furthest from any coastline — is a beacon for pelagic marine life. 76 coral species have been documented, dominated by Porites lutea and Acropora. Whale sharks are frequent visitors (especially June-September], manta rays are regular, and blacktip reef sharks are common. Scientific research (Frontiers in Marine Science] documents it as one of the healthiest coral reef ecosystems remaining in the Gulf. Known locally as "Lighthouse Island in the Sea."
Tips
Liveaboard only from Songkhla pier. Plan for June-September for best conditions and whale shark encounters.
